The Highlight Film
Don’t forget the importance of sound
A professional wedding video can do a lot of things, but most importantly, it should capture the spirit of the day and commemorate the love of the bride and groom with beautiful visuals. It also needs to represent what is unique about your wedding. With Kariana and Nolan’s wedding located at Wonser Woods, the first thing that stood out was the picturesque venue. The Wonser Woods Estate, situated in the foothills Oregon’s Cascade Mountains near Estacada, is surrounded by a vineyard and a Christmas tree farm. With a 14,000 sq. ft. facility in the middle of 622 acres, the estate offers a peaceful and intimate landscape that is perfect for a destination wedding.
What better way to capture the vista at the Wonser Estate than with a drone. In this video, the swooping shots help set the stage and create a sense of wonder and awe.
How To Do Audio In Wedding Videos - The Right Way
Stunning visuals are only one half of a great wedding video. If the audio is subpar, it won’t matter how good it looks. For Kariana and Nolan, we took great care to record crisp, clean sound at every step so that they could relive the joy of the day for years to come.
While you might have time to do sit down interviews with your videographer in the lead up to the wedding, there are certain moments for which there will only be one opportunity to capture. This includes the reciting of the vows, the toasts from family members and close friends, and any speeches made by the officiant.
We consulted with Kariana and Nolan beforehand and made sure we had high quality mics ready for each important moment of the ceremony and reception. You can really tell how that level of care paid off in the finished video.
Remember, if your wedding will be outdoors, it’s extra important that you have professional sound gear, otherwise your audio could end up sounding like it was recorded in the middle of a tornado.
You can’t make this type of video with a cell phone
What separates this, and other professional wedding videos, from the kind of home movie style videos you get from cell phones? In a word, movement. A great wedding video like this one typically has long, sweeping camera movements with a healthy dose of slow motion thrown in.
Notice that pretty much every shot in Kariana and Nolan’s video has this type of movement. This requires special stabilizing gear for your camera, more than just a simple tripod. You certainly can’t just hold your camera or phone in your hand and expect this kind of fluidity.
We use a variety of professional equipment, including sliders, gimbals, and high-speed cameras with slow motion capture to create this type of elegant motion. We think the results speak for themselves.
A high quality wedding video is the best way to ensure you never forget your special day. At Portland Event Films, we have years of experience creating cinematically beautiful, intimate, and unique movies that truly represent your romantic journey.
